What is an exchange surface?
Watch the video and then make a mind map of the features of exchange surfaces in you companion sheet
All living organisms need to move substances into and out of their cells.
This happens more easily if there is a large surface area to volume ratio.
Surface area : volume ratio is a comparison of how big the surface area is compared to the volume.
Surface area : volume ratio gets smaller as the cell gets larger.
Watch the video and then attempt the long answer style question on the companion sheet.
In this example you will need to apply your knowledge of surface area to volume ratios and how it affects the rate of movement of substances in and out of cells.
Task: Answer the question on the companion sheet
