The Menstrual Cycle
The menstrual cycle is on average 25 days long. It is controlled by three hormones, these are FHS, LH, Oestrogen and Progesteron.
The Oestrogen is the first to be release, this causes the egg to mature in the oviduct. It also stimulated the production of the next hormone FHS. FHS causes the lining of the womb to thicken, it also stops the production of FHS and makes LH by produced. LH reaches the most around day 18 when it causes an egg to be release. It also stimulates the release of progesterone and stops FHS. Progesterone, stops the release of LH and maintains the lining of the womb until the levels begin to go down at which time the lining of the womb breaks down.
