Some indicators are good for showing acids, some are good for showing alkalis...
Universal indicator does both! It's a mixture of lots of different indicator solutions. It is green in colour.
It shows strong acids a red colour and strong alkalis a purple colour and a range of colours in between.
This range of acidity and alkalinity is called the pH scale.
