The stamen is made of 2 parts.
The long thin strand is called the filament and the 'fluffy' bit on top is called the anther.
The anther contains the male sex cell (gamete).
Males and female both produce gametes, in plants the male gamete is called pollen and the female gamete is called egg cells, found in the ovule.
